ok i just got a ps3

ok guys i got my own ps3 and not the new one either i went out and found one of the rare 60 gigs the ultimate model ( which btw has a nice story behind it)
I got my student loans and paid off the bills i owed and a few other things i had to do. I went out to 12 local ebgame stores and found one that was selling a ps3 60 gig i paid for it and it worked fine.
the next day i put in one of my ps2 games and find out that it begins to mess up ( i had done my research and knew that the 60 gig did not have problems with my particular game) so i take a look at the hard drive and i noticed it had 80 gigs, i checked the model number next and sure enough they sold me a 80 gig system ( for about 80 dollars more then if i had paid for the 80 gig) so i called them up yesterday and i asked them if i could bring it up, sure enough someone on their end didn't mark the box right and they offered me two things full refund, trade it in for another model and the diffrence of the two. i said no i purchased a 60 gig ps3, i then told...

them that i wanted that exact model, then the guy has the balls to tell me that the model i had was just the same as the 60 gig just more hard drive space ( he thought i was a idiot), i asked for the manager, none the less he was upset that such a mistake was made and we had a lengthy discussion about the models etc etc and he said he could find another store with one none the less just across the bridge into another country they had one, i asked if he could reserve it for me he said sure i had my ps3 20 mins later....

now to the real question,
do any of you have a ps3 can you recomend a few newer games i could play that are under 10 bucks each i am broke now after i paid off all the bills i owed ><!

Ewww....no. I hate consoles. FPS games have an auto aim of sorts too.....weak. Give me mouse, or give me death

Mouse and keyboard eh? Ive always been a ps fan, just couldnt afford the upgrade form ps2

Yeah, but....their sample rate (polling) is less than 1/2 what a computer does, which means it's not as responsive

The original PS3 60GB are rare, there the only one that plays PS2 games and something else, I think it has 4 usb ports insted of 2

ja which is why i wanted it, the one i got was on display since it came out so its practically new

i am also looking into getting a half terabyte hard drive for it >>...

basically it plays almost every game that has been popular and any of the other games the only problem is a 5% speed decrease of game play at certain points, hence why i went back and demanded the model i paid for basically someone was trying to rip me off (its a 120 difference between the two models!!)

Nice I'm kind of surprised...I thought all the ps3's were all locked to the 30 fps range. Seems they should all perform the same as far as the fps goes. Same cell processor, graphics engine and such. Any idea why there is a difference in performance?

From what i read the 60 gig model, the first model they made, has a ps2 built into it hardware wise ( a certain chipset which the ps2 has, allowing it to run the games the way they run on the ps2) and since the other models do not have this it causes the other B.C. models to sit in the dust.

the 80 gig has a software emulation which does not cut it with 60 percent of the game leaving only the super popular ones to run properly as the 60 gig model uses hardware leaving it to run about 98 percent of games with out a problem.

Ok....rephrase. Where does the 5% difference in performance appear? In frames per second, better resolution?

I'm curious as to why that is...larger cache on the hdd, higher rpm drive, better OS? In other words....it's it the hardware that makes it better?

its a software issue from what i read, the hardware is away better then the ps2 but when it is using the extra hardware it takes more time to process then it does with the ps3 hardware :/ and yes its fps wise

Just reading some of your notes on ps3 60GB. I just purchased the ps3 120GB. Got a smoking deal that I could not pass up. It has so many features I cannot keep up with. It's a great system, but the newest model came without OS which is awesome because that greatly reduces the amount of illegal gaming, like using bots. It reduces the cheaters basically. But the newer system is not backward compatible with ps2 or earlier games, bummer... But they are working on updating that very soon.
Funny thing is, I bought it a few months back when I got pissed off and left VC clan because of all the damn cheaters on every OldSchool server.

Games I own, Fallout 3(an apocalyptic game) 007 Quantum of Solace, Burnout Paradise, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (outrun those pigs) Uncharted(reminds me of Tomb Raider, but with a dude named Drake, COD 4, and a few others.

For shooter games I'd rather the keyboard and mouse rather than game controller though, just better control period. I guess I thought I missed consoles but I was wrong. I still spend more time on PC than on PS3. But the porn is always better on PC(hands Down) At the moment I have plastic wrap on my keyboard so the keys don't stick, ROFL

what pisses me off is that fact i can buy the one i have pay 40 bucks and put a 500 gig hard drive in my ps3 lol

i myself want to buy a ps3 with defect laser because i don't need a laser to play games :p and these come very cheap even the 60gb one's
