I typically have my resolution locked to 800x600. There are alot of tricks you can do in a config (.cfg) file that will help as well. Here's a little out of my personal .cfg.

seta cg_showblood "0"
seta cg_bloodTime "0"
seta cg_blinktime "100"
seta cg_scorePlums "0"
seta cg_draw3dIcons "0"
seta cg_simpleItems "0"
seta cg_marktime "0"
seta cg_marks "0"
seta cg_brassTime "0"
seta cg_draw2D "1"
seta cg_draw3dIcons "0"
seta cg_drawAttacker "0"
seta cg_drawStatus "1"
seta cg_drawTimer "0"
seta cg_drawGun "1"
seta cg_wolfparticles "0"

That will increase your fps substantially, making your game run much, much smoother.

drawfps it tells you what your fps is how is it bad lol

I know. I don't need it. I run at over 200fps, why would I leave it on? All I did was copy and paste a section out of mine which has been modded to account for my system upgrades.

gl_linear_mipmap_nearest (bad detail)

gl_nearest_mipmap_nearest (worst detail)

r_picmap 3 will reduce detail a lot.

Those 3 do the most to your fps besides the resolution.

Then there are little things to add to jons list like:

cl_maxpackets 30-100
rate 25000
snaps 20-40
even updating video driver can improve. Or adjusting settings in video driver.
Also closing programs you have running
There is so many things you can do.

Best thing to improve your fps by far is just buy a better computer.
