ANZAC Day

In Australia and New Zealand its Anzac day..................Its the day we commemorate those that faught and were lost in the first and second world wars. Our troops that fought in the pacific in places like New Guinea...........the stories of the Kakoda trail are horrific..........and our friends the Fuzzy Wuzzy angles. Now if you check out some of this was History Sho.......you will find it fascinating.

My father was a sargeant Major in that very war........He was on Okanawa and Iwogima...............Sho I do know you would have been aware of the horrors that accured there. My Father fought the japanese but had the greatest respect for his enemy.........he found them a most horourable people. He never collected his medals or marched in a service..........Or very rarely even spoke or war.............He to found it incidious.For some reason tho....this year......Anczac Day seems to be important. Maybe its because or the scores or useless wars that are being fought on this planet........and the fact that we refuse to learn from our misstakes........no matter how horrific the lessons.

Anyway guys.....I would like you to spare a thought for my Dad...........and the many millions that have been lost in wars......to give us the freedoms that we so orten take for granyted. After all...........we are playing on a WW11 platform..............should we not acknowledge what we are playing.........Lest We Forget.

Thanks for the history Kis. Always cool to learn something new. Will remember your dad and all that he and other soldiers do to keep us free. I saw a bumper sticker one time that somes it up: "Freedom is not Free".

Thank you for sharing that Kis My family has an extremely long military history as well (including myself). We always honor the fallen as well as the survivors of. I still proudly sport a POW/MIA sticker on my car, stating below it...."Lost,but not forgotten."

Thanks for your post Kis; and for the education about this historical day. I will give pause in remembrance and prayer for the fallen's loved ones. And a special prayer for you and your family.

The HBO series "Pacific" has been running the last few weeks---another Tom Hanks production like Band of Brothers. Follows the battles on new Guinea, Peleliu, Okinawa, etc. Very well done.
Kis, your father was one of the many unsung heros that did what was asked of them and didnt ask for anything in return--someone to be very proud of indeed.

I am indeed...........and you guys make me proud to.........My Dad might even think it was worthwhile now.........to know the legacy he left behind:)
