Re: Got bored
Lol! Nice one. I'm doing roughly the same atm for a flash drive, and I'm also slipstreaming a 7 x86 and an Ultimate 64 bit disk.
The reason being, is it's very easy while doing extreme benchmarks to corrupt a SATA drive from running very high PCI-E speeds. I hate waiting for new installs to finish up, while maintaing a room temp in the 20 C range I need for extreme runs. Saves on the power bill
Slipstreaming 7 is no easy task, as there is no easy-cheezy program like nlite or vlite to make it easier. vlite does partially work....but it's very limited fuctionality for 7 makes it not really worth using.

No, had'nt seen that one yet. Sweeeeet!! Though, it does make about 4 days worth of work absolutely worthless Afaik, a recovery disk like that is simply going to take alot of work. You could use any of the mini linux installers (made for flash drives), coupled w/ a very pared down 7 installer. But as to whether it could be compressed to all fit on a dvd....I just am not sure. Blu ray, sure...np. But burners are extremely expensive still, unfortunately.
!!!! They have an RC on the site now as well !!!!

No worries at all, my friend. Slipstreaming is cutting down a Windows installer program to only the parts you need for the funtioning of windows on your computer with your particular hardware. It minimizes the installation size, which is very handy when using smaller Solid State Drives (like mine). Plus, it also makes reinstallations much faster when you have a problem.
Benchmarking is exactly what it sounds like. Measuring the performance of the computer. Extreme benches are pushing your system to the absolute maximum speeds attainable and then running the tests. There are globally recognized statistics, competitions for bragging rights and prizes, and performance measurement programs. For the sole purpose of determining the fastest hardware on the planet overall, and within the parameters of a given set of hardware.
I currently own one of those records, for the highest performance attainable w/ a 3 core cpu, coupled w/ a Ati 5770 video card (3-d video performance record).
Not as impressive as the overall record. But, considering I can get nearly 1/2 the current world record score on a single vid card (vs. 4), and w/ a 3 core cpu (vs. 2-6 core server cpu's in parallel) is pretty impressive none the less. In layman's terms, for what it is....my systems smoking fast
Which is a pretty important thing for someone just starting out w/ a performance pc building, tuning and repair business.
